The 1884 international conclave, convened by Germany's Chancellor von Bismarck, which superimposed on Africa a system of political boundaries agreed to by all colonial posers; amazingly, the scheme has survived for over a century and these political fragmentation, for the most part, still underpins the realm's contemporary politicogeographical structuring.
