1. Lift the scanner lid, and put the object to be scanned (Paper/Picture) on the Epson Scanner. Put it face down, near the top left corner.

2. Then click the Photoshop icon in the Dock (at the bottom of your screen).

3. Choose File > Import and then select Epson Perfection 4490, as shown below.

4. The Epson Scan box and the scanning area will appear.
Click the Preview button.
Your image will appear on the scanning area (see #5 below).

5. Use the crosshair pointer to drag over the image from the upper left corner to the lower right corner. This tool is called the Marquee Tool.

6. The Marquee Tool
• “Deleting the marquee” might be helpful if you need to start over to select your image.
• “Automatically locating the image” is very helpful, as it creates a marquee around the precise edges of your image.

7. After you have selected your image, click the Scan button.

8. To save the scanned object:
a. Use the File Menu to choose "Save As..."

b. Change the destination and file format, for example, to save as a jpg or pdf.

c. Click the Save button.
